Hi everyone,
Just need a little advice, I am starting on Hydroxychloroquine after next week and wondered do I need to take Lansoprazole or something similar to protect my stomach,I noticed that this med should be taken with or after food.
I know lots of you take MTX & Hydroxychloroquine, so help please.
Thanks in anticipation.
Mary

I take Lanzoprazole to protect my stomach from Naproxen and cocodamol. I also take Mtx and Hydroxychloroquine but am not sure if Lanzoprazole is recommended for these. I think you should phone the nurse, GP or pharmacist for advice. Probably always best to get good advice when mixing all these meds. Good luck with the Hydroxychloroquine (aka Quinoric, aka Plaquenil). I've found it to be quite a gentle drug really and my consultant says it's one of the better ones when it comes to side effects. Sorry i can't be of more help. Naomi, X

Thanks Naomi,
I will have a word with the pharmacist before I start taking the Hydroxy.
As you say best to be certain before mixing things.

I take Omeprazole to protect my stomach, also HDX and MTX. It was originally prescribed by the GP because I was taking Naproxen anti-flammatory, but The const is very concerned to ensure I am still taking it.

hi mary, i am on mtx,hydroxy,co-cods,folic acid etc and lansoprazole, i got lans for my stomach at the very start, i did ask if it was a must but on trying without it as suggested by doc for a month believe me its worth taking, it really helps keep the acid down,as well as puts a lining on the stomach, dorothy.
